About the project Bothnia Business Heritage

Throughout history, the Gulf of Bothnia has served as an important channel
out in the world. Even today, the maritime and industrial cultural heritage and today’s business community are very rich. But the importance of the cultural heritage needs to be highlighted! The Bothnia Business Heritage project is a
cross-border project that connects representatives of cultural heritage and business around the Gulf of Bothnia, with Finnish and Swedish partners.

Why is this project needed?

  • The project aims to promote and highlight industrial and maritime heritage around the Gulf of Bothnia, while strengthening the connection between the past, the present, and the future. Heritage and knowledge about the past can be a resource for businesses for generating added value and credibility in marketing, branding, and development.
  • A crossborder cooperation, strengthening the link between cultural heritage actors and modern businesses – and thereby creating mutual benefits.

– the cultural heritage actors becoming more business wise and developing their mission to pass on the cultural heritage.
– companies getting to know their roots providing added value and credibility in marketing, branding, and development.

Results we wish to achieve with the project

  • An active crossborder network for cultural heritage actors to share experiences and best practices, also in the future.
  • A stronger link between cultural heritage actors and businesses: new, sustainable models for cooperation.
  • New, sustainable products and services to sell to businesses.
  • A guide for cultural heritage actors where the process of developing new, sustainable products and services is explained and made easy to follow.
